Your Cyprus Property is a one-person site. This page says who that person is, what we claim, what we don't, and how the site makes money.

Who's behind this

We're German, and we've lived in Cyprus since 2019. In that time we've watched friends and family buy apartments, build houses, renovate wrecks and let places out — and sat through the parts nobody writes about. The lawyer who also acts for the developer. The deed that still hasn't arrived. The build that doesn't match the approved plans.

Between them they've dealt with a lot of Cyprus lawyers, accountants and contractors, and we've spent enough time on those building sites to see how the system works in practice, which is often not how it works on paper.

The site says "we", but it's one person: Maximilian Berentzen. The name on every article is the person who wrote it.

What we claim, and what we don't

We research against primary sources. That's the claim, and it's the whole claim.

Most of what's written for foreign buyers is either translated brochure copy or copied from another website, and it is often wrong. The most careful site in this niche currently states the transfer-fee rule backwards. We don't copy anyone — where the law sets a number, we take it from the Land Registry's own fee schedules, the Tax Department, or the legislation, and we say which one.
